Careem Launches Udhiya Service in UAE for Eid-al-Adha, Offers Home Delivery of Qurbani Meat
Careem recently launched the Udhiya (Qurbani) service in the UAE for Eid-al-Adha this year. This innovative service allows customers to pre-order “their cut of choice” for the festival and “choose a preferred delivery date.” By streamlining the process of obtaining Qurbani meat, this service aims to make Eid hassle-free for customers, ensuring they can focus on the spiritual and communal aspects of the festival. The launch of this service has generated significant interest online, capturing the attention of many, especially as India celebrates Eid-al-Adha today.
The excitement around this service was highlighted when an individual shared a screenshot of the grocery app, remarking, “Bangalore, you are a step behind.” This comment underscores the novelty and convenience of the service, which seems to be absent in other regions like Bengaluru.

According to the screenshot, the app allows consumers to “pre-order” or “donate” meat for Udhiya. The types of meat available include goat and sheep, catering to the traditional preferences for Qurbani. There’s no delivery fee for the service, and the minimum order value is AED 1200, approximately ₹27,000. The app promises to deliver the order within 45-55 minutes, adding a layer of convenience that has been well-received by users.
The online community has had a variety of reactions to this service. X user Raghav humorously commented, “Bengaluru, you are a sheep behind,” playing on the competitive spirit between cities. Another user expressed curiosity, asking, “Really intrigued. What’s the delivery time?” This highlights the practical interest and potential demand for such a service. A third user praised the efficiency of services in the UAE, stating, “Sheep’s delivery in UAE, the country with the best service on Earth.” Meanwhile, a fourth user, initially skeptical, acknowledged the reality of the service, saying, “Well, I thought it was an online joke, but Careem actually added sheep delivery in UAE.”
Arabian Business reported that the grocery app launched this service in partnership with an approved local provider, Dhabayeh Al Emarat, just days before Eid-al-Adha. This partnership ensures that the meat provided meets the required standards and is delivered fresh to customers. In addition to the Udhiya service, the app offers other services such as donation drives, Eid meal deals, and dining discounts, further enhancing the festive experience for its users.
This service’s popularity coincides with India’s celebration of Eid-al-Adha, or Bakrid, on June 17. Eid-al-Adha, known as the ‘festival of sacrifice’, is a significant Islamic festival celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and commemorates Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The meat from the sacrificed animal is distributed among family, friends, and the needy, symbolizing sharing and charity.
