Sheikh Abdullah’s visit aims to boost UAE-Pakistan trade, investment, and ties

UAE Deputy PM Visits Pakistan to Boost Trade, Investment, and Bilateral Ties
Islamabad, April 21: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has arrived in Islamabad for a significant two-day official visit with the goal of enhancing diplomatic and commercial relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
The high-level visit coincides with Pakistan’s aggressive pursuit of foreign investments and strengthening of strategic collaboration in a number of areas. Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, welcomed Sheikh Abdullah at the airport upon his arrival on Sunday.
Sheikh Abdullah will meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other prominent Pakistani leaders during the tour. Along with increasing people-to-people interactions between the two countries, these talks will concentrate on strengthening cooperation in commerce, investment, energy, and regional security.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office emphasized that the visit reflects the historically close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE. It added that the discussions aim to explore new avenues of bilateral engagement, further diversifying collaboration in key sectors.
“The visit will solidify the enduring Pakistan-UAE partnership and deepen engagement across fields that matter to both countries and their people,” stated an official release.
As Pakistan steps up its efforts to entice international partners for investment in vital industries like banking, infrastructure, railways, mining, and agriculture, the significance of this visit only grows. Recently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s dedication to promoting international cooperation in order to open up investment opportunities and support economic growth.
Because of the significant Pakistani diaspora employed in the Gulf, the UAE continues to be an important economic partner for Pakistan. Pakistan received $4.1 billion in remittances in March 2025, its largest monthly inflow ever. The majority of these were provided by Pakistanis living abroad in nations like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The State Bank of Pakistan anticipates that total remittances would exceed $38 billion this year, which would be a major sign of financial recovery and economic stability.
The visit by the UAE group is anticipated to strengthen the two countries’ long-standing ties by opening the door for further economic interdependence and cooperation.
