UAE Authorities Foil Cocaine Smuggling Attempt at Zayed International Airport Using Advanced Detection
Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a major drug bust, the General Directorate of Ports at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle narcotics through Zayed International Airport.
Following the operation on Friday, 89 cocaine-containing capsules weighing a total of about 1,198 grams were found. Inside the body of a traveler who had come from a South American nation was the illegal cargo. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is around AED 5 million.
Airport customs officers became suspicious of the traveler’s actions. Modern scanning technologies allowed them to detect unusual aliens inside his body. As soon as possible, the traveler was referred to the appropriate medical and legal authorities, who safely removed the drug capsules hidden in his intestines.
The authorities commended the professionalism and vigilance of the Customs Inspection Team for detecting and stopping the smuggling attempt. The Authority reiterated its commitment to improving security technology and strengthening border inspection procedures to protect the country from drug trafficking and related concerns.
The UAE’s larger plan to protect public health, maintain national security and prevent the importation of dangerous goods into the country is demonstrated by this effective interception.
