The 24-year-old Asian driver, who ran away from the scene after hitting a pedestrian on the road in Dubai last Sunday, was arrested by the Dubai Police within three hours. This reflects their tremendous performance.

A 27-year-old Asian man who was walking on the road at the time of the incident sustained serious injuries. Also, the injured youth was reportedly rushed to Rashid Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

However, the driver who caused the accident fled the scene in an attempt to flee the country. Colonel Abdel Monim Abdel Rahman Muhammad, Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said that the command and control room received information about the incident last Sunday at 10:00 p.m.

He said that it was reported that the driver of the vehicle had run away after causing an accident in which a young man was seriously injured in the Al Khoos Industrial Area.

Following this, officials rushed to the spot and assessed the situation and took necessary action. Investigation revealed that the Asian youth was crossing a side street when the vehicle hit him, sustaining serious injuries and the driver fleeing the scene.

After that, they found that the driver had abandoned the vehicle that caused the accident within an hour. After intensive search, the driver was arrested within 3 hours while trying to flee the country, he said.

He also said that one of the main causes of accidents for pedestrians is reckless crossing without giving priority to pedestrians in the areas designated for pedestrian crossing.

It is worth noting that failure to yield to pedestrians and fleeing the scene of an accident are both criminal offenses under the UAE Traffic Act.
