UAE Aid Convoy to Gaza Looted in Israeli-Controlled Zone, Relief Efforts Disrupted
Dubai: The region’s vital relief operations were significantly hampered when a convoy of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates traveling to Gaza was robbed as it passed through a restricted area under Israeli control. Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE’s current operation, vehemently denounced the occurrence and called it a major roadblock to providing Gaza’s people with critical aid.
Last Wednesday, trucks carrying flour and bakery supplies successfully reached Gaza’s warehouses to assist local bakeries in restarting their operations amid the ongoing crisis. The plan included the entry of 103 additional trucks loaded with vital goods such as flour, gas, oil, salt, sugar, and other necessities critical to sustaining bakery functions.
Despite these arrangements, only 24 trucks were allowed entry. Shockingly, only the cargo from a single truck arrived safely at its destination. The remaining trucks were forced to travel through hazardous routes designated as a “red zone,” under the control of Israeli forces. During this perilous journey, the convoy was subjected to widespread looting and theft, leading to the loss of most of the aid supplies.
Expressing deep disappointment and strong condemnation of these thefts, Operation Gallant Knight 3 stressed that such actions pose serious obstacles to the delivery of essential relief to the nearly 2.3 million people in Gaza who rely significantly on these supplies for basic survival and livelihoods. This setback underscores the continuing difficulties in ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches people in danger, given the complex geopolitical and security constraints.
