UAE firm to built FLNG barge for Perenco’s Gabon project

UAE's Technomak partners with Perenco's Dixstone to advance Gabon's Cap Lopez FLNG project, boosting LNG production

Perenco’s Cap Lopez FLNG Project Takes Shape with UAE’s Technomak as Key Partner

The UAE-based Technomak and Perenco partner Dixstone have signed a historic strategic agreement for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and integration (EPCCI) of the Cap Lopez Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in Gabon.
A major milestone in Gabon’s energy development was reached when Dixstone was awarded the contract to manage the project’s construction and integration after Perenco made its final investment decision.

The Cap Lopez FLNG facility, located nearshore, is designed to produce 0.7 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG and 25,000 tonnes of LPG annually. With a storage capacity of 137,000 cubic meters, the facility will use a former gas tanker that has been converted into a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit. The project is anticipated to be completed by 2026 and will be connected with the current Cap Lopez oil export terminal, greatly improving Gabon’s energy infrastructure.

Under the terms of the contract, Technomak will build and assemble the FLNG barge at its dedicated site in the United Arab Emirates. After it is finished, the barge will be shipped to Gabon for commissioning and final integration.
In addition, the LNG liquefaction technology for the facility has already been contracted to Aragon, a Seatrium affiliate, marking an important milestone in the project’s development. This partnership between Dixstone, Technomak, and Aragon demonstrates a potent synergy in promoting the FLNG sector and strengthening Gabon’s standing as a major actor in the world energy markets.

Long-term expansion in the energy sector is anticipated as a result of the Cap Lopez FLNG project, which is expected to boost Gabon’s capacity to produce LNG, upgrade its infrastructure, and draw in other investments.
