In an extraordinary journey through the high-speed realms of motorsport, Emirati racing sensation Hamda Al Qubaisi has etched her name in history. Currently competing in the F1 Academy for MP Motorsport, Hamda’s meteoric rise in the racing world reached new heights in June 2021. She made history as the first woman in the Italian F4 to claim a podium, securing third place at Misano in the inaugural race of the season.
Expressing gratitude for her second year at the prestigious F1 Academy during the launch of Red Bull Racing’s 20th Season in Formula One, Hamda shared insights into her passion for racing, which ignited at the age of 12 with karting. The love affair with racing intensified as she progressed from karting to F4, culminating in a robust performance in the F1 Academy last year.
Reflecting on her journey, Hamda expressed, “From karting to F4, and finally into F1 Academy last year, we ended the season very strongly, in the top three. Now I’m part of the Red Bull family, and I couldn’t be more grateful about this opportunity.”
Hamda’s racing lineage is deeply rooted in a family renowned in motorsport. Her father, Khaled Al Qubaisi, stands as one of the most accomplished figures in UAE racing, with victories in prestigious events like the Dubai 24 Hour and the Yas Marina 12-Hour Race. His influence undoubtedly fuels Hamda’s racing spirit.
In 2018, the Al Qubaisi family created waves in the motorsport realm when Hamda’s sister, Amna, became the first woman from the Middle East to participate in a motorsport test programme for Formula E. This historic moment unfolded after the Diriyah ePrix in Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the country’s landmark decision to allow women to drive.
