IPL 2025 Mega Auction Expected in UAE Mid-November to December

Abu Dhabi, Muscat, and Doha Under Consideration for Two-Day Auction; Final Decision Expected Soon

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: BCCI Considers UAE Venues, Dates in November-December

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is exploring the possibility of hosting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction abroad, with Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the lead. Muscat and Doha are also being considered.

The second or third week of November or December are the two unofficial dates that BCCI officials have suggested to franchises, however the precise dates have not yet been confirmed.

Given that the auction is anticipated to run for two days, BCCI is making sure that important stakeholders are available and is closely examining the logistical problems.

“The dates under consideration are between November 16-17 or December 15 and 20. The BCCI Operations Committee is currently evaluating these options,” a source close to the situation told Sportsstar.

An auction was held in Dubai last year, but “nothing has been decided yet,” another source said. “The BCCI is exploring various options and the owners will be informed about the final venue in due course.” An official announcement is expected in two weeks.

After meeting with the owners in July, the BCCI promised to share the updated retention policy for the IPL 2025 bid by the second week of August. However, as no official information has come out yet, the owners are worried.

According to sources in the BCCI, an official update detailing the rules will be sent to owners by the end of this week or early next week. Since the auction will again be held overseas, owners will need to prepare their travel plans and make logistical arrangements.
