Rain in UAE: Thunderstorms in Dubai, Light to Moderate Showers in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah
Anticipated Unstable Weather Patterns Foretold by Met Office, More Rain Expected

Dubai and UAE Experience Dramatic Weather: Rain, Thunder, and Lightning Sweep Across the Region
In Dubai, a captivating weather event unfolded on Thursday evening, as a spell of light to moderate rain swept through various parts of the country, as reported by the Met Office. This meteorological spectacle, not confined solely to rain, also heralded the arrival of thunder and lightning, extending its reach from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. With the anticipation of further wet weather, the National Center of Meteorology issued a new weather forecast, hinting at more rain showers expected in select areas next week.
Dubai residents were treated to a spectacle of nature, witnessing light rainfall in locales such as Al Warsan and International City, while other areas like Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Investments Park experienced the dramatic combination of thunder, lightning, and a gentle drizzle during the Thursday evening showers.
As we look ahead to the weather forecast from Sunday to Wednesday, meteorologists at the NCM predict the influence of unstable weather conditions across the country. This atmospheric instability arises from the extension of a low surface pressure from the Southwest, coinciding with humid southeasterly winds, alongside the extension of an upper air pressure accompanied by a northwest air current.
Sunday is expected to see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall, potentially heavy in certain areas, particularly across internal and southern regions. Notably, internal parts of Abu Dhabi, as well as locales surrounding Al Ain and Fujairah, may experience the brunt of the rainy weather.
As the low-pressure system deepens on Monday and Tuesday, cloud cover is projected to increase over scattered regions, leading to rainfall of varying intensities across these areas. Thunderstorms, lightning, and even hail are anticipated, adding to the meteorological spectacle. By Wednesday, a gradual decrease in cloud cover is anticipated, alongside ongoing rainfall, particularly in Northern and Eastern areas. This decrease in cloud cover coincides with a drop in temperatures, as highlighted by the NCM.
Moreover, the period of unstable weather is expected to be accompanied by strong winds, with sea conditions forecasted to range from rough to very rough, especially on Monday and Tuesday. As the elements rage and the skies put on a show of their power, the resilience of the UAE populace shines through, ready to face whatever nature throws their way.
