Indian Teen Dies After Tragic Fall from Abu Dhabi Building
Abu Dhabi: In a heartbreaking incident, a 17-year-old Indian expatriate student, Alex Binoy, lost his life after falling from the third floor of his residential building in the Tourist Club area of Abu Dhabi on Thursday, April 24.
Originally from Thottara in Kerala’s Ernakulam district, Alex was a Grade 12 student at Abu Dhabi Indian School, Muroor. Reports indicate that the fall occurred around 3:30 PM. The building’s watchman quickly informed his father, Parayil Binoy Thomas, an employee at ADNOC. Alex was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital right after, but he passed away from his wounds not long after.
Alex, who hopes to pursue a career in photography, had just finished his last school examinations and was anxiously awaiting his results. His two older brothers and his distraught parents survive him.
This incident is the latest in a string of tragedies involving Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates. A 40-year-old Indian graphic designer perished in a fall from a Sharjah skyscraper in December 2024. Another death occurred in May 2024 when a 37-year-old Indian influencer fell from a 19th-floor apartment in Fujairah.
Community members are now more concerned about safety and mental health awareness among expatriate families due to the recurrent nature of these incidents.
