UAE Minister Joins ‘Year of Community’ Run in Kannur

Kannur, Kerala, Feb 23: UAE Minister of Economy, Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, participated in the ‘Year of Community Run’ as part of the eighth edition of the Kannur Beach Run on Sunday.
Alongside top sportsmen and fitness enthusiasts, the Minister was in Kerala for the Invest Kerala Global Summit, which was held in Kochi. The race was organized by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce and VPS Healthcare, a UAE-based charity, to highlight the value of social interaction and wellbeing.

The ‘Year of Community 2025’ in the UAE is celebrated
The “Year of Community 2025” is a celebration of the year when UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan founded it to promote volunteerism, social responsibility, and good community-based projects.
The UAE’s dedication to promoting an inclusive culture and group advancement was demonstrated by the minister’s participation.

Special Invitation & Participation
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, a globally recognized healthcare entrepreneur and mentor of the event, personally invited the UAE minister to take part in the run.Dr. Vayalil, the Chairman and Managing Director of VPS Healthcare, participated together with over 100 runners from other industries.

The occasion, which marked a significant turning point in India-UAE cooperation, was opened by Speaker of the Kerala Assembly A N Shamseer.

Strengthening India-UAE Ties
Nearly a million Keralites consider the United Arab Emirates to be their second home, demonstrating the strong economic, cultural, and social ties between India and the UAE. An effective campaign to raise awareness of community service and encourage foreigners to actively participate in social welfare endeavors was the “Year of Community Run.”

Dr. Vayalil highlighted that the occasion strengthened the long-standing connections between Kerala and the United Arab Emirates by promoting a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility.
