Mastermind Arrested in Parliament Security Breach; Accused Allegedly Planned Attack on 22nd Anniversary of 2001 Parliament Attack

Delhi police have successfully apprehended Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind in the Parliament security breach case that occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack. Lalit Jha, a key accused in the incident, voluntarily came to the police station, leading to his arrest and subsequent interrogation.

According to Delhi Police, Lalit Jha surrendered himself at the police station, where he was subsequently arrested. The interrogation process has commenced to gather information about his alleged role as the mastermind behind the Parliament security breach.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted seven days of custodial remand for all four accused individuals arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach. The accused persons, identified as Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, and Neelam Devi, have been granted permission to probe the motives behind their actions in Mumbai, Mysore, and Lucknow.

Delhi Police revealed that the accused persons had meticulously planned the security breach, purchasing special shoes from Lucknow and canisters from Mumbai. The act, described as a well-planned conspiracy and an attack on the Parliament of India, involved the accused displaying a pamphlet declaring Prime Minister Modi as a missing person and offering a reward from a Swiss Bank for anyone finding him.

The FIR registered by Delhi Police includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code, along with stringent sections 16 (terrorism) and 18 (conspiracy for terrorism) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The accused were produced by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, seeking a 15-day custodial interrogation.

In response to the security lapse leading to the breach in the new Parliament building, eight security personnel from the Lok Sabha secretariat have been suspended. The incident occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terror attack on the Parliament, adding significance to the breach.

Police sources indicated that the four arrested individuals have assumed common responsibility for the security breach. However, investigators noted that they are providing rehearsed answers, prompting a comprehensive examination by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

The arrest of Lalit Jha and the subsequent custodial remand for the accused underscore the gravity of the security breach, which occurred on a significant anniversary in Indian parliamentary history. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the conspiracy and motives behind the breach.
