Saudi Arabia Implements New Umrah Visa Rules to Enhance Pilgrimage Experience

Saudi Arabia has recently announced significant changes to the rules governing Umrah visas for pilgrims visiting the country. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed that Umrah visas issued to individuals from outside the Kingdom will now have a validity period of three months from the date of issuance, as opposed to the previous practice of validity from the date of entry into the country.

This adjustment in visa regulations comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to streamline the process of Hajj preparations and facilitate the pilgrimage experience for visitors. Changes to visa rules are implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensuring alignment with governmental protocols and regulations.

Under the new guidelines, the final date for Umrah visas has been set to Dhul Qadah 15, corresponding to May 15. This fixed expiration date provides clarity and certainty for pilgrims planning their visits to Saudi Arabia for religious purposes.

It is important to note that the three-month validity period of the Umrah visa is intended to accommodate pilgrims from around the world, allowing them ample time to complete their religious obligations. However, it is emphasized that the visa cannot be extended beyond the stipulated 90-day provision, underscoring the need for timely planning and adherence to visa regulations.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has reiterated that the Umrah visa is exclusively intended for pilgrimage purposes and should not be utilized for employment or other non-religious activities.
