Abu Dhabi urges pet owners to register cats and dogs

System promotes responsible pet ownership with microchipping, vaccinations, and a centralized TAMM database

Abu Dhabi Introduces Mandatory Pet Registration for Cats and Dogs

A law from the Municipalities and Department of Transport (DMT) requires pet owners to register their dogs and cats using the Animal Rights System on the TAMM website starting on February 3.

The new technology demonstrates a commitment to both animal care and legal compliance by providing a single database of pet owners and their microchipped animals.

Veterinarian clinics are essential to this effort, and DMT emphasizes the importance of partnership.

Businesses can transfer or register animal ownership for accuracy and compliance, while pet owners can register dogs directly with the clinic of their choosing.

Additionally, the program emphasizes pet health by promoting yearly immunizations, microchipping, and routine veterinary examinations.

Individual pet owners are currently exempt from registration fees for a period of one year. Nonetheless, businesses that own dogs and cats as well as pet shops have six months to finish the registration.

An crucial step in encouraging responsible pet ownership throughout Abu Dhabi is this new consolidated database.
