Middle East to Welcome Global Health Leaders for First-Ever IUHPE Event in the Region

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has proudly announced that Abu Dhabi will be hosting the 25th International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) World Conference. Scheduled to take place from May 13-16, 2025, this prestigious event will be held in the Middle East for the very first time.

Conference Overview

The IUHPE World Conference will gather a diverse group of industry experts, policymakers, healthcare leaders, practitioners, and educators from around the world. The conference aims to address global health and wellbeing challenges while exploring opportunities for advancing health promotion and education. As a key member of the IUHPE, ADPHC is committed to providing a strategic platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of health policies.

Dr. Ahmed AlKhazraji, Acting Director-General of ADPHC, expressed his enthusiasm about hosting the conference in Abu Dhabi. He emphasized the significance of this event in fostering international collaboration and sustainable development within the health sector. “Abu Dhabi’s selection as the host for the IUHPE World Conference underscores the Emirate’s dedication to health excellence and its role in enhancing global health systems,” Dr. AlKhazraji said.

Conference Objectives

The IUHPE World Conference is focused on improving global health through education, community engagement, and the development of public health policies. The conference will address a range of complex and evolving global health challenges. These include the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, an increase in pandemics caused by emerging and re-emerging diseases, growing mental health issues, and the impacts of climate change.

Sione Tu’itahi, President of IUHPE, highlighted the importance of the collaboration with ADPHC for this significant event. “Given the environmental, economic, and social challenges that impact the wellbeing of our planet and its people, IUHPE highly values its partnership with ADPHC to co-host our 25th World Conference on Health Promotion. Previous Conference Insights

The most recent IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion took place online in May 2022. Held under the theme ‘Promoting Policies for Health, Well-being, and Equity,’ the conference was hosted by the Palais des Congres of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. The event was particularly focused on the global context of the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, the strain on public health systems, and the effects of climate change. It provided a vital forum for collaboration, system re-evaluation, and the development of transformative health promotion actions.
