Dubai Private Schools Shine in Global Rankings for Financial Literacy and Creative Thinking

Dubai’s private schools have continued to distinguish themselves on the global stage, securing impressive rankings in financial literacy and creative thinking according to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 conducted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). This triennial assessment, renowned for evaluating 15-year-old students’ practical skills in reading, mathematics, and science, expanded in 2022 to include new domains such as financial literacy and creative thinking, marking Dubai’s inaugural participation in these specialized areas.

Financial literacy, as defined by the OECD, assesses students’ understanding of financial concepts, risks, and their ability to make informed decisions in various financial contexts. In this domain, Dubai’s private schools achieved a notable second place among 20 participating countries and regions, scoring 522 points, significantly surpassing the OECD global average of 498 points. The results indicate a high level of proficiency among students in managing money, with 82% reporting competence in financial management and 79% having savings goals, underscoring a robust foundation in financial education.

Similarly, in the creative thinking domain, which evaluates students’ capacity to generate, evaluate, and enhance innovative ideas for practical applications, Dubai private schools secured sixth place globally out of 64 participating entities. With a score of 36 points against the OECD average of 33 points, 84% of students demonstrated proficiency at or above the OECD baseline level, highlighting their ability to engage creatively and effectively in academic and real-world challenges.
