From healthcare and education to digital content and luxury sectors, the UAE boosts long-term visa drive to draw global talent

UAE Expands Golden Visa: 10-Year Residency for Nurses, Teachers, and Key Professionals
In a major step to recognise and retain skilled professionals, the United Arab Emirates has broadened its prestigious Golden Visa programme. Marking International Nurses Day on May 12, the UAE government announced a 10-year residency visa for nurses who have worked with Dubai Health for over 15 years — a move that promises stability and recognition for frontline healthcare workers.
This announcement was made following directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence. He commended the commitment of nursing professionals, describing them as central to the nation’s healthcare mission. “Nursing staff play a vital role in shaping a healthier society. Their dedication to patient care is exemplary, and this recognition is well deserved,” said Sheikh Hamdan in an official statement.
Long-Term Residency Now Includes Educators
The UAE’s long-term residency benefits now extend to the education sector as well. Teachers, educators, and academic professionals working in private schools, universities, and early childhood institutions in Dubai are now eligible for the 10-year Golden Visa.Under the direction of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the program seeks to honor teachers who have significantly advanced academic achievement. For top staff members and school principals, Ras Al Khaimah has implemented a comparable program.
Professionals in the creative and digital fields Hi there!
Creative professions have also benefited from the Golden Visa. Digital content creators, filmmakers, artists, and social media influencers are now eligible under the new creative residency track launched during the 1 Billion Followers Summit in January. Overseen by Creators HQ, this track encourages innovation in the digital and media industries. Online applications are accepted without a local sponsor.
Consider the Future: E-sports and Gaming
The quickly expanding gaming and e-sports industries are also welcomed in Dubai for long-term residents. The Golden Visa is now available to professionals in gaming and e-sports who are over 25 and certified by Dubai Culture as part of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33). The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi provides a comparable program.
Yacht Owners Included in Abu Dhabi’s Golden Quay
Luxury yacht owners have also been added to the Golden Visa eligibility list. Through the Abu Dhabi Golden Quay initiative, private yacht owners with vessels over 40 metres in length can apply. Leaders in the insurance, maritime services and boat manufacturing industries are also eligible for the scheme.
Its significance
Introduced in 2019, the UAE Golden Visa offers 10-year residency to highly qualified expatriates in key occupations. It allows visa holders to support their families and live, work and invest in the country without the need for a local sponsor.
The UAE’s open, long-term visa policies make it a favourite destination for skilled professionals, while countries like the UK tighten their restrictions on hiring healthcare workers. From inventors and creators to healthcare heroes and educators, the UAE is reaffirming its commitment to serving as a global hub for excellence, innovation and sustainable development.
