Father and daughter, victims of Sharjah fire, to be repatriated to Lahore for buria

Following the tragic apartment fire in Sharjah, the two Pakistani children, 9-year-old Asma Imran Khan and 6-year-old Ahmed Imran Khan, have shown significant recovery and are expected to be discharged from the ICU of a Sharjah hospital today (Friday). Unfortunately, their father, Imran Khan, and sister lost their lives in the fire. Meanwhile, their mother, Fatima Imran Khan, remains under treatment and unconscious in Al Qassimi Hospital Sharjah as her carbon monoxide levels normalize.
The family, originally from Lahore, resided in the Muweileh area. A Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai team, led by Community Welfare Attaché Imran Shahid, visited Al Qassimi Hospital Sharjah to meet with doctors and Imran Khan’s brother-in-law, Zaheer.
Upon recovery, the children will be handed over to the Child Protection Department, Sharjah, which will subsequently facilitate their transfer to relatives after completing necessary formalities in consultation with the Consulate. The bodies of the deceased will be repatriated to Lahore for burial.
The visiting Consulate team has urged relevant authorities in the hospital, police, and forensics departments to expedite the issuance of required medical reports for prompt death notifications.
With approximately 1.7 million Pakistani nationals in the UAE, the South Asian diaspora constitutes the second-largest community in the country. This community plays a vital role in the local economy and significantly contributes to remittances sent back to their home country.
