Abu Dhabi, August 25: The United Arab Emirates has successfully completed a new prisoner exchange between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, resulting in the release of 230 prisoners.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine with the mediation efforts of the United Arab Emirates, which came less than a month into the earlier transfer process. These efforts reflect the UAE’s commitment to be a credible mediator supporting diplomacy to resolve the crisis between the two countries.

The Ministry emphasized that the success of the seventh new arbitration since the beginning of this year was a result of the UAE’s strong relationship and enhanced partnership with both parties.

Furthermore, the ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to continue all efforts and initiatives aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict, stressing the importance of dialogue and expansion as a one-way solution to the conflict and mitigating its humanitarian consequences. .

Notably, since the beginning of this year, the UAE’s mediation efforts have succeeded in the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine, and in December 2022 it successfully exchanged two prisoners between the United States and the Russian Federation.
