KSrelief’s Global Water Efforts: Advancing Safe and Sustainable Access

Celebrating World Water Day with Deeds of Charity

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) is being honored on World Water Day, March 22, for its significant contributions to water security worldwide.
The organization has disbursed more than $301 million to 105 water-related projects in 16 countries, with a focus on improving sanitation, clean water, and good hygiene. The goals of these projects are to support sustainable water management and healthy living conditions.

Major Support for Yemen’s Water Infrastructure

KSrelief’s efforts have primarily benefited Yemen, which has received 46 projects totaling more than $238 million. These efforts include drilling wells, improving sanitation at medical facilities, and providing drinking water. KSrelief is addressing serious public health issues and improving the quality of life of Yemeni communities by ensuring access to clean water.

Strengthening Water Security in Syria

KSrelief has implemented four projects in Syria to improve water security in areas affected by natural disasters and violence. These include emergency water supply, sanitation and health services for areas devastated by earthquakes. In addition, KSrelief has played a key role in restoring waste management infrastructure, water distribution systems and water treatment plants in Idlib Governorate.

Expanding Humanitarian Efforts in Africa

In addition, KSrelief has significantly improved water security across Africa. Five major projects have been completed in Sudan, including the drilling of 33 medium-depth wells and a major water and sanitation project that will benefit around six million people.
52 new wells have been created in Ghana, while 250 shallow wells and 15 medium-depth wells have been built in Mali.

Global Reach: Water Sustainability Across Multiple Countries

With initiatives in Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Niger, KSrelief’s influence goes beyond the Middle East and Africa.
These programs aim to assist agricultural activities that are vital to local economies, improve sanitation, and increase the sustainability of water. Saudi Arabia’s long-term commitment to tackling the world’s water problems is reflected in the organization’s commitment.

Emergency Water Intervention in Gaza

Recently, KSrelief partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to implement emergency interventions in the Gaza Strip’s water sector.
This partnership seeks to address pressing humanitarian needs by improving environmental sanitation and granting one million people access to clean water.

KSrelief has contributed to the reduction of waterborne illnesses, the support of the cattle and agricultural industries, and the improvement of public health in general through its strategic water initiatives. The group’s all-encompassing strategy for water security supports its goal of creating a more just and sustainable society for coming generations.
