Paytm launches UPI globally, enabling cashless payments in UAE, France, Singapore
Indian Travelers Can Now Use UPI for Secure Payments in Popular International Destinations

Paytm Launches UPI International for Cashless Payments Overseas
Indian travelers can now make cashless payments overseas using Paytm’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services as Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications Limited (OCL) has launched the ‘UPI International’ feature.
This latest innovation allows Indian users to make seamless payments at popular international destinations where UPI is accepted in countries like UAE, France, Singapore, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal.
Be it shopping in Dubai, dining at cafes in Paris or exploring beach markets in Mauritius, Paytm’s UPI International offers cashless convenience for a wide range of use cases, including dining, shopping and local experiences. Travelers can use their Paytm app to scan UPI-enabled QR codes at international merchant outlets.
A company spokesperson highlighted the vision behind the launch: “As the pioneer of mobile payments in India, we are constantly innovating to bring greater convenience to our users. With UPI International, we are pleased to extend this facility to Indian travelers, enabling them to make secure, cashless payments in countries like UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal.
This is how it works
Setting up UPI International is hassle-free, requiring a one-time activation linked to the user’s bank account. Once users scan a UPI-enabled QR code at a foreign location, the app will automatically trigger the action.
Passengers can choose a usage period of 1 to 90 days based on the duration of their trip and deactivate the service once they return to India. This improves security and prevents accidental transactions.
The app displays real-time exchange rates and conversion fees, ensuring transparency and helping users make informed purchasing choices.
Paytm’s newly released UPI statement download service helps consumers manage their spending and budgets when they travel overseas by providing clear transaction data.
Paytm offers UPI International as well as UPI-linked RuPay credit cards, auto-pay for recurring invoices, and UPI Lite for minor transactions. The app also supports peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers across bank accounts and other UPI platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability and efficient payments.
