Pakistan, UAE Strengthen Ties with Five Key Agreements During Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Landmark Visit
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday signed five significant cooperation agreements, marking a new phase in bilateral relations. The signing took place during the first official visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan.

Pakistan and the UAE enjoy long-standing diplomatic, economic and cultural ties. Due to its sizeable Pakistani expatriate population, the UAE is a major trading partner and remittance source for Pakistan in the Middle East. They underlined their commitment to enhancing economic cooperation throughout the visit.

Key industries covered by the five agreements include infrastructure, mining, banking and railways. The projects seek to increase investment in mineral resources, enhance infrastructure development, foster financial cooperation and enhance connectivity through railway projects. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the exchange of documents between representatives of both sides at the signing ceremony.
The event was attended by senior government officials, federal ministers, and Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir.

Following the signing, PM Shehbaz held high-level discussions with the crown prince, highlighting Pakistan’s resolve to transform strong diplomatic ties into a robust economic partnership. The Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Line is a project that might greatly help the ports of Gwadar and Abu Dhabi, and the premier also underlined its strategic significance. Citing fruitful collaborations like those between Pakistani organizations and Abu Dhabi Ports, Shehbaz commended the UAE’s ongoing assistance for Pakistan’s economic growth, especially in the areas of infrastructure and investment. Sheikh Khaled expressed excitement about growing investments across important industries and reiterated the UAE’s steadfast commitment to deepening economic ties with Pakistan.

Sheikh Khaled received the Nishan-i-Pakistan, the nation’s highest civilian accolade, from President Asif Ali Zardari in appreciation of his contributions to Pakistan-UAE ties.

Upon arrival at Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Airbase, Sheikh Khaled received a grand welcome from President Zardari, PM Shehbaz, and other senior officials. A guard of honor, cultural performances, and national anthems marked the occasion, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. The crown prince had talks to increase trade, investment, and energy cooperation while he was there. These agreements pave the way for long-term cooperation across a number of industries, creating opportunities for upcoming joint ventures and economic projects, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Mutual respect, trust and shared goals are the foundation of the relationship between Pakistan and the UAE. Their strategic economic cooperation was further cemented during this visit, demonstrating their strong personal ties and expanding alliance.
