Dubai witnessed a major diplomatic and economic milestone as the inaugural edition of the “India-UAE: Partners in Progress Conclave” was formally inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.
Delivering the keynote address, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the deep and dynamic nature of the bilateral relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India. He noted that the theme of the conclave encapsulated the long-standing commercial, cultural, and strategic ties between the two nations. Expressing confidence in the future, he stated that cooperation between the UAE and India will continue to generate mutual opportunities and shared advancement.
He praised India’s remarkable progress across various sectors and acknowledged its rising global stature. According to Sheikh Nahyan, India’s steadfast focus on improving the lives of its people has earned widespread respect. He spoke about the historic friendship between the two countries, noting that it predates modern statehood and has evolved into meaningful economic and cultural collaboration.
Sheikh Nahyan described the conclave as a platform to further strengthen these historical connections by encouraging bilateral initiatives, deepening engagement, and developing future-focused partnerships. He also emphasized that both nations’ leaderships share a vision rooted in global cooperation, civil dialogue, and a pursuit of peace and prosperity.
He attributed the UAE’s ongoing progress and innovation to the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the UAE as a model of balance—blending heritage with modernity, and social development with economic sustainability.
Commending the efforts of Aroon Purie and the India Today Group, he also recognized the pivotal role of the UAE India Business Council in organizing the event. He called on participants to build on the outcomes of the conclave through mentorship programs, award platforms, and sustainable networks that reinforce the UAE–India partnership. He concluded by welcoming delegates to the gathering and encouraging knowledge exchange and collaboration for a brighter, shared future.
A significant milestone in the strategic partnership under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was reached with the conclave, which was arranged by the UAE India Business Council – UAE Chapter in collaboration with the India Today Group. It followed a number of new bilateral agreements and the historic visit to India by Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. These events highlighted the UAE India Business Council’s critical role in promoting trade and collaboration in important fields including healthcare, education, and cultural diplomacy.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, highlighted the council’s importance as an institutional force that turns political intent into tangible partnerships. He affirmed that the conclave reflects a shift from transactional trade relations to deep, multi-sectoral collaboration between the two countries.
A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Dubai Health Authority and the UAE India Business Council, laying the groundwork for the UAE–India Friendship Hospital. This project emphasized the mutual dedication to people-centered partnership and healthcare diplomacy.
Important subjects like education, digital innovation, fintech, logistics, and renewable energy were covered in expert talks at the conclave. These discussions produced practical tactics meant to accelerate the expansion of international businesses. The importance of artistic interchange and storytelling in fostering understanding between people was highlighted in a noteworthy cultural discussion on soft power and film.
The conclave drew participation from a wide array of dignitaries and stakeholders, including Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, and Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Business leaders, diplomats, academic figures, and innovators also contributed to the rich dialogue. Leading corporations such as DP World, Tata Sons, Apparel Group, KAF Holdings, YFS Facilities, and Bumerk were among the notable attendees, along with representatives from leading educational institutions.
A clear strategy for bolstering the economic corridor between India and the United Arab Emirates emerged from the confab. It emphasized how the UAE India Business Council’s UAE Chapter serves as a strategic engine that would sustain the developing two-way connection. The occasion established the groundwork for a future characterized by sustainability, creativity, and a growing collaboration that combines institutional power with cultural resonance.
