Malayali Nurse Maya Saseendran Wins UAE Labour Market Award for Outstanding Service
The esteemed UAE Labour Market Award has been given to Maya Saseendran, a nursing supervisor at Musafa LLH Hospital in Abu Dhabi, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to nursing.
Hailing from Koodal in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, Maya’s commitment to caring for patients without bystanders or family support has earned her this well-deserved honor. Notably, she is the only Malayali to receive this award in the nursing category.
Maya received recognition for her outstanding leadership abilities in managing a group of nurses that are excellent at providing high-quality medical treatment. Her crucial contribution to the expatriate community by offering first-rate medical care and much-needed emotional support was emphasized by the award judges. Additionally, they praised her for her unwavering commitment, frequently providing services outside of working hours, and for motivating young nurses by fostering professional ideals and pushing them to further their education through social service.
Her compassion and selfless service reflect her philosophy of “caring with love,” a belief that has significantly impacted her patients and colleagues alike. Over her 13-year career in the healthcare sector, Maya has received numerous accolades, including the Best Nurse Award, Best Performer Prize, and Gem of the Quarter Award at the Burj Group.
Additionally, she was honored by the Malayali Samajam for her contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As part of the UAE Labour Market Award, Maya received a cash prize of ₹17 lakh, a gold coin, free health insurance, a mobile phone, and a discount card. She expressed her gratitude to her family and the hospital management, crediting their unwavering support for enabling her to provide the best care to her patients.
Maya is the daughter of Saseendran and Leela. Her husband, Aji Nainan, who is from Kottayam, and their son, Aron, a fifth-grader, live in Pathanamthitta. Maya’s inspiring journey serves as a testament to the profound impact of compassion and dedication in the field of healthcare.
