New initiative aims to enhance food processing in India and meet UAE's demand for quality food

India and UAE to set up food corridor to attract $2 billion in investments

On October 7, during a press conference following the 12th meeting of the India-UAE High Level Working Group on Investment in Mumbai, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the establishment of a food corridor between India and the United Arab Emirates.
The initiative is expected to attract around $2 billion in investments.

Objectives of the Food Corridor
The food route aims to develop food processing facilities in India and help sell high-quality products sourced from Indian farmers in the UAE. The initiative seeks to improve the livelihoods of farmers while meeting the UAE’s demand for quality food.

Market Expansion
In addition to exporting food to the United Arab Emirates, the food corridor intends to investigate markets in adjacent regions and establish India as a major participant in the global food supply chain.

Timeline for investments
Minister Goyal stated that because the required infrastructure is being constructed, the investments should become a reality within the next two to two and a half years.

The Food Corridor Initiative seeks to improve economic relations between two countries in order to help Indian farmers and supply consumers in the UAE and other regions with high-quality food items.
