Gulf States Condemn Israeli ‘Greater Israel’ Map Amid Regional Tensions

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar Urge Global Action Against Israel's Territorial Claims

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar Condemn Israeli Map Claiming Expanded Borders

Gulf states including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have strongly condemned the publication on official social media accounts of an Israeli map that asserts “historic territorial rights” over Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

In addition to calling the map a “blatant violation of international legal resolutions,” Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has cautioned that provocations of this nature impede peace efforts, particularly in light of the ongoing violence in Gaza.

The ministry has urged the international community to pressure Israel to abide by international law and abandon its expansionist policies.

The UAE criticized the map, calling it a “deliberate attempt to expand the occupation” and a “blatant violation of international law.”

The officials stressed the need to end practices that threaten peace and reiterated support for a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state.

Joining the protests, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry accused Israel of “perpetuating its aggression” and violating the state’s sovereignty.

The kingdom urged international powers to condemn Israel’s actions and support efforts to use dialogue and border respect to end regional conflicts.

The Israeli plan has drawn widespread opposition, and Gulf governments such as Jordan and Palestine have condemned it.

The uproar follows similar claims made in March 2023 by far-right Israeli figures, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, while standing next to a map showing a “Greater Israel” that includes parts of Jordan.

Israel has come under international criticism for decades of occupation of Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territories, demanding a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.
