Eid Al Fitr 2024: UAE Holiday Schedule for Public and Private Sectors

MoHRE and Cabinet Declare Holiday Periods, Offering Respite to Employees Across UAE

UAE Announces Eid Al Fitr Holidays: Private and Public Sectors Gear Up for Festivities

Dubai: With the announcement from the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) heralding the official declaration of Eid Al Fitr holidays for employees in the private sector, the anticipation for the upcoming festivities reaches new heights across the nation. This significant announcement marks not only a time of celebration but also a period of respite and relaxation for workers in various industries.

The Ministry’s decree outlines the holiday period, which spans from Monday, 29 Ramadan (8 April 2024), to 3 Shawwal, or its Gregorian equivalent. During this generous time off, employees in the private sector are entitled to paid leave, enabling them to fully immerse themselves in the joyous traditions and customs associated with Eid Al Fitr.

The commencement of the Eid holiday for the private sector on Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), sets the stage for a jubilant occasion. The flexibility in the holiday period ensures that employees can fully embrace the spirit of Eid Al Fitr, regardless of the precise date of the festival’s observance. Should Eid Al Fitr fall on Tuesday, the holiday extends until Thursday, April 11, providing a seamless transition from work to celebration. Similarly, if the first day of Eid falls on Wednesday, employees can relish an extended break until Friday, April 12, maximizing opportunities for rest and rejuvenation.

In parallel, the UAE public sector is also gearing up for an extended holiday period, mirroring the festive spirit of the private sector. The Cabinet’s confirmation of a week-long break to celebrate Eid Al Fitr underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity during this auspicious time. This decision, in alignment with the earlier pronouncement from the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, ensures parity and consistency across government entities.

Government employees can eagerly anticipate a well-deserved respite, with paid leave spanning from Monday, April 8, to Sunday, April 14. The scheduled resumption of work on Monday, April 15, offers a seamless transition back to routine responsibilities, following a period of relaxation and reflection.

Both the private and public sectors in the UAE are poised to embrace the spirit of Eid Al Fitr with open arms, cherishing this time to bond with family and friends, and reflect on the blessings of the past month. As the nation comes together to celebrate, the holiday period serves as a poignant reminder of the values of unity, compassion, and community that define the cultural fabric of the UAE.
