Emirates simplifies entry procedures, AI-powered renewals, and expands Golden Visa eligibility for skilled professionals

Dubai Streamlines 2-Year Employment Visa Process for Expats

Dubai has update the two-year employment visa to make it easier for international workers to apply for jobs in the UAE. Simplified entry procedures, increased eligibility for golden visas, and AI-powered renewals are among the changes that prioritize speed and accessibility.

Employer sponsorship allows international professionals to work and reside in the UAE for a period of two years. This visa is issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) after obtaining the necessary permits from the relevant authorities. Candidates must meet certain requirements, such as holding a passport valid for at least six months, holding a job offer from a company in the UAE, providing the educational credentials required for their job, and passing the required medical examination at a UAE-approved medical facility. Before application, the work visa must be approved by the Ministry of Manpower and Emiratization (MoHRE).

Procedure for Employment Visas
Employer Sponsorship: Through MoHRE, the employer submits an application for a work visa.
Entry Permit: A 60-day entry permit is issued upon approval.

Medical Examination: The applicant must undergo a medical examination upon arrival in the UAE.

Emirates ID Registration: Biometric verification and ID processing takes place.

Visa Stamping: Final approval from GDRFA grants legal residency.

Recent improvements to the visa process include AI-powered updates through the Salama platform, reduced processing time and paperwork. Online applications are now easier thanks to digital visa processing, and professionals in the digital, healthcare and sustainability sectors are now able to apply for Golden Visas. Additionally, eligible Indian passport holders now have easier access to visa-on-arrival options. The ability to sponsor family members for those making AED 4,000 or more a month encourages talented professionals to stay in the country for an extended period of time.

Depending on the approvals, the total processing time for the visa can vary from two to four weeks, and the cost can range from AED 1,500 to AED 5,000, depending on the employer and industry criteria. By making the expat visa application process easier and faster, these changes are intended to make Dubai an even more attractive destination for top talent from around the world.
