Dubai, the largest commercial city in the United Arab Emirates, has been severely impacted by the recent heavy rains, causing significant disruptions at the airport over the past few days.

A viral video circulating on social media depicts standing water inside the airport premises and on the runways, indicative of the challenges faced by aviation authorities in managing operations amidst adverse weather conditions. Consequently, several airlines have been compelled to adjust their schedules, particularly affecting flights to and from Dubai.

Tata Group’s flagship carrier, Air India, announced today (April 12) the complete cancellation of its flights to and from Dubai, citing ongoing operational disruptions at Dubai Airport as the primary reason. Passengers with bookings on Air India flights scheduled for travel until April 21 have been duly notified of the flight cancellations.

In a proactive measure to mitigate passenger inconvenience, Air India has assured affected travelers of flexible options, including reschedule fee waivers or full refunds. This commitment aims to ensure that passengers do not incur financial losses due to the flight cancellations.

IndiGo has cautioned passengers regarding potential disruptions

Following suit, low-cost airline IndiGo has also issued a significant announcement in response to the inclement weather conditions in Dubai. Through a communication shared on its official platform, IndiGo has cautioned passengers regarding potential disruptions to airline services. Passengers are advised to verify the status of their flights before departing for the airport, enabling them to make informed travel decisions amidst the evolving situation.

Echoing the operational challenges faced by Dubai Airport, Emirates Airlines has implemented measures to address the impact on its services. The airline has temporarily suspended check-in services for passengers with connecting flights via Dubai until 11.59pm (GMT) on April 19. However, passengers traveling to Dubai as their final destination are reassured that they can proceed with check-in and travel arrangements as usual, maintaining continuity in their travel plans.

Emirates Airlines has further alerted passengers to the possibility of delays in flight departures and arrivals from Dubai Airport. In light of this, passengers are strongly advised to consult the updated flight schedule available on the airline’s official website (http://emirates.com) to stay informed about any changes or disruptions affecting their travel itinerary.
