Chief Adviser Yunus Commends UAE’s Visa Progress, Invites Investment Across Key Sectors

Dhaka, May 7, 2025 – Professor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh’s chief adviser, gratitude the United Arab Emirates for its continued efforts to make visas easier for Bangladeshi people and enthusiastically accepted investment proposals from the Gulf state in a number of areas vital to Bangladesh’s progress.

The appreciation came during a high-level diplomatic meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka, where Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE’s Cabinet Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, led a visiting delegation. Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, confirmed the exchange and noted the significance of the dialogue in strengthening bilateral ties.

The UAE delegation, which included prominent officials such as Ahmed Bin Ali Al Sayegh (Minister of State for Foreign Affairs) and Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Hawi (Under Secretary at the Ministry of Investment), arrived in Dhaka earlier in the afternoon and was officially received by Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy, Lutfey Siddiqi, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Sheikh Nahayan emphasized in his speech the UAE President’s dedication to demonstrating solidarity and strengthening ties with Bangladesh. He affirmed collaboration in areas including investment and visa facilitation and commended the progress in bilateral engagement.

Chief Adviser Yunus acknowledged the UAE’s recent efforts to relax visa requirements in a positive response. He noted that while some administrative issues remain, the progress so far has been promising, especially in light of the UAE’s recent resumption of issuing 30 to 50 visit visas daily and the activation of the online skilled employment visa system.

Approvals of business visas have also accelerated, with renewable visas being granted to particular groups like marketing experts, hotel employees, and security guards. 500 security guard visas have recently been approved, while 1,000 more are still pending.

Prof. Yunus reiterated Bangladesh’s willingness to welcome foreign investment and urged the UAE to look into prospects in a range of sectors, reaffirming the mutual objective of cooperation and development.

Ambassadors Abdullah Ali Al Hmoudi (UAE in Dhaka) and Tareq Ahmed (Bangladesh in UAE) were also present. The UAE delegation concluded its visit shortly after the discussions.
