Some Indian millionaires might relocate to this country in 2024
Henley & Partners Forecasts Significant Emigration Trends Among India's Affluent

Indian Millionaire Migration to UAE Expected in 2024: Report
Expected in 2024, approximately 4,300 Indian millionaires are projected to begin the process of migrating from India, according to a detailed report by Henley & Partners, a renowned consultancy specializing in investment migration and citizenship planning.
Among these affluent individuals, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stands out as the most favored destination for relocation outside of India. The UAE’s appeal lies in its vibrant economy, business-friendly policies, high standard of living, and attractive tax environment, making it an attractive choice for wealthy individuals seeking new business opportunities, lifestyle enhancements, and financial security.
Despite the significant emigration of millionaires from India, particularly towards the UAE, the report highlights that these outflows do not pose immediate concerns for India’s economy. India continues to generate a substantial number of new high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) annually, indicating a robust entrepreneurial and economic ecosystem that offsets the emigration trends.
Many of the Indian millionaires opting to move abroad maintain strong ties to India, including ongoing business ventures, investments, and property ownership. This dual engagement signifies a strategic approach where individuals seek to leverage global opportunities while retaining connections to their homeland.
Henley & Partners categorizes ‘millionaires’ and ‘HNWIs’ as individuals with liquid assets exceeding 1 million US dollars (approximately Rs 8.34 crore), highlighting their financial standing and decision-making autonomy in pursuing international relocation.
On a global scale, India ranks third in terms of the volume of millionaire migration, trailing behind China and the United Kingdom. This statistic underscores India’s growing influence in global wealth mobility patterns, influenced by economic shifts, geopolitical factors, and personal aspirations among affluent citizens.
Migration decisions among high-net-worth families are multifaceted, influenced by a variety of factors including safety and security considerations, financial planning, tax implications, business prospects, lifestyle preferences, educational opportunities for children, healthcare quality, and overall quality of life metrics. These factors collectively shape the migration patterns observed among affluent individuals worldwide.
The anticipated migration of Indian millionaires in 2024 underscores their strategic pursuit of enhanced opportunities and a superior quality of life available in international destinations like the UAE. This trend reflects broader global movements in wealth mobility and emphasizes the dynamic interplay between personal aspirations, economic opportunities, and global mobility trends in today’s interconnected world.
