Robots are becoming increasingly integrated into public life in the UAE, with both government entities and private companies actively encouraged to utilize robotics and artificial intelligence to enhance service efficiency across various sectors.
The widespread presence of robots in public spaces, government agencies, private entities, and institutions is now a common sight, as they are viewed as official employees capable of efficiently meeting requirements and completing transactions with speed and extreme accuracy.
The Ministry of Finance recently announced a significant achievement, leveraging Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to process over 1.8 million transactions with an accuracy exceeding 98 percent. This initiative resulted in saving 39,000 human work hours, marking a substantial improvement in productivity and efficiency. This move aligns with the UAE’s vision of transitioning into a knowledge-based and innovative economy.
The use of robots is not limited to the Ministry of Finance. Various sectors, including healthcare, are adopting robotic technologies to improve efficiency and customer services. For instance, the Emirates Health Services Foundation has introduced a “blood drawing robot” to its health facilities, aiming to save time for both staff and patients during blood drawing services.
The deployment of robots extends beyond specific sectors. Educational institutions, like the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), have introduced dedicated departments for robotics and computer science, contributing to the development of future leaders in AI and robotics.
In addition to academic and healthcare applications, robots are making an impact in media, law enforcement, lifeguarding, and environmental initiatives. For example, media companies in the UAE have introduced AI news anchors, while police forces have deployed multilingual and emotion-sensing robots for public interactions.
Robotic innovation is not limited to land-based applications. The UAE has introduced robotic lifeguards capable of navigating challenging waves and currents, ensuring the safety of beachgoers. Furthermore, automated robots are employed in laboratories for testing materials, such as cement, using advanced technologies like X-ray and AI.
The integration of robots into customer service departments and even cleaning duties at public spaces, like Dubai Metro stations, showcases the versatility and adaptability of robotics in diverse scenarios.
