UAE welcomes ICJ ruling, rejects Sudan’s allegations

UAE dismisses SAF’s claims as politically motivated, urges ceasefire, humanitarian access, and democratic reforms in Sudan

UAE Supports ICJ Ruling on Sudan Case, Reaffirms Commitment to Peace

The UAE has expressed its strong support for the International Court of Justice (ICJ)’s ruling dismissing the case filed by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The decision puts an end to the investigation, citing a lack of clear jurisdiction. The case is effectively removed from the ICJ’s panel of judges.

In a response to the ruling, the UAE reaffirmed that the allegations made by the SAF were baseless and politically motivated. According to UAE officials, the case was an attempt to distract from the SAF’s involvement in Sudan’s ongoing civil conflict.

The decision, according to Reem Ketait, the UAE’s Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Co-Agent at the ICJ, is a clear and unwavering rejection of the Sudanese Armed Forces’ attempts to influence the court for political ends.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed its demand for an urgent ceasefire as the Sudanese civil war enters its third year, calling on the SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to hold constructive talks and allow the unhindered delivery of humanitarian relief to the conflict’s victims.
Ketait additionally highlighted the necessity of a civilian-led, military-free democratic process in Sudan and urged international action to pursue individuals accountable for the country’s misdeeds.

With the welfare of the Sudanese people at the center of its diplomatic endeavors, the UAE reaffirmed its dedication to cooperating with regional and global partners to establish enduring peace and stability in Sudan.
