UAE Introduces Blue Visa for Sustainability Experts in First Phase
The UAE has granted long-term residency to 20 prominent sustainability experts as part of the first phase of its ten-year Blue Visa initiative. The announcement was made by the Federal Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment during the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai.
Recognizing Global Sustainability Efforts
The Blue Visa is a 10-year residency program intended for people who have significantly improved sustainability and environmental protection in the United Arab Emirates and around the world. Recipients who qualify include:
- Members of international organizations and NGOs
- Representatives of international companies
- Winners of prestigious global environmental awards
- Distinguished activists, researchers, and experts in sustainability
Application & Nomination Process
Qualified candidates can apply directly through ICP or be nominated by relevant UAE authorities. The newly introduced electronic system facilitates application submissions and approvals in alignment with government sustainability initiatives.
