Chinese Tech Powers UAE’s Clean Energy Transition

Shanghai Electric Group Powers World’s Tallest Solar Tower in Dubai’s Renewable Energy Push

UAE Partners with Chinese Technology to Lead Clean Energy Revolution

DUBAI – As you drive south of Dubai towards the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a dazzling sphere of light, resembling an artificial sun, looms across the desert from more than 20 kilometers away.

The extraordinary sight is a 263-meter-high solar tower, the tallest in the world, built as part of a concentrated solar power and photovoltaic project by Shanghai Electric Group.

“We are light collectors, building a tower from sand grains, transforming hopes into rivers of energy, and capturing the sun to light countless homes at night,” is how workers at the site poetically describe their work.

China is using solar power through advanced technology to meet the UAE’s clean energy needs.

The UAE is dedicated to expanding the clean energy transition and enhancing its energy mix despite its enormous oil reserves. In order to achieve carbon neutrality by the middle of the 2050s, the UAE’s energy strategy calls for large expenditures in renewable energy sources including wind and solar. China is now an obvious partner in this ambitious endeavor, having emerged as a global leader in renewable energy technologies.

Chinese businesses have been instrumental in the UAE’s clean energy development in recent years, improving its energy mix and setting an example for green collaboration between China and the UAE. Chinese technology and experience are essential to the UAE’s continuous energy transition, from the earliest wind power demonstration projects to the massive solar power plants that are starting to appear in the desert.
