The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is in talks with Israel and the United States on the possibility of the UAE taking part in the provisional administration of post-war Gaza. These discussions center on the notion that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with the United States and other countries, may temporarily supervise Gaza’s governance, security, and reconstruction until a reformed Palestinian Authority (PA) is ready to take over.

According to diplomatic sources, the UAE’s involvement is noteworthy because of its close security collaboration with the US and its unusual relationship with Israel, where it retains diplomatic contacts, which is uncommon among Arab countries. The UAE has some influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration thanks to this relationship. Even after more than a year of fighting, Israel has not provided a clear plan for Gaza’s future, and the international community is finding it difficult to come up with a workable solution.

The UAE’s proposed approach emphasizes the need for substantial reform of the Palestinian Authority to govern Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem under the vision of an independent Palestinian state. Israel, however, is against this and continues to criticize the PA in its existing structure. However, the UAE maintains that any effective post-war strategy for Gaza must incorporate changes to strengthen the PA and create the framework for a genuine Palestinian state.

Furthermore, the UAE’s talks have brought up the prospect of employing private military contractors to keep Gaza peaceful; however, Western nations are leery of the notion because of past scandals involving the employment of private military contractors in conflict areas.

Reconstruction is anticipated to be a massive endeavor that will take years of labor and substantial outside funding, including for Gaza’s democratic institutions. Despite denouncing Israel’s military actions in Gaza, the United Arab Emirates continues to be a crucial friend of Israel, especially in the conflict with Hamas, which both Israel and the UAE consider to be a terrorist organization.

Furthermore, the UAE has stated unequivocally that it will only send troops to a post-war mission in Gaza at the invitation of the Palestinian Authority, with US involvement. As part of these negotiations, the UAE has called for a change in leadership inside the PA and has pushed for a capable, reformist prime minister to head the Authority. Emirati officials are considering Salam Fayyad, the former Palestinian prime minister who is renowned for his reformist views, as a possible leader of a reorganized Palestinian Authority.
