India and UAE Strengthen Economic and Strategic Ties Through IMEEC and CEPA
India and UAE have taken significant steps to improve bilateral relations. A major focus is on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), which seeks to increase maritime connectivity and trade between India, the UAE and Europe.
UAE’s Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar chaired the 15th India-UAE Joint Commission meeting, which emphasized the importance of strategic partnership and energy cooperation in areas including nuclear energy, defense and emerging technologies.
The meeting celebrated the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and noted developments in the fintech sector, particularly in digital financial infrastructure. The recently launched Virtual Trade Corridor (VTC) and Maitri Interface promise to streamline and modernize trade processes between the two countries.
