UAE Leads MENA Startup Funding with $146 Million in November

In November 2024, the UAE raised $146 million across 11 deals, setting the standard for MENA startup fundraising. Saudi Arabia came in second with $94 million for 23 businesses. Third place went to Egypt, where eight businesses raised about $16 million, a significant increase from $1.6 million the previous month.

Due in large part to a big deal from Iowa, e-commerce became the industry with the best performance. In this area, seven startups raised $104 million. With four businesses generating $80 million, fintech came in second.

SaaS providers also performed well, raising $21 million across seven funding rounds.

UAE drives MENA funding growth:
November saw significant late-stage investments in the MENA region, including Aiva’s Series C round, Lean Technologies’ Series B, and Cypher’s $13.3 million pre-IPO funding.

Series A startups raised $23 million across two deals, while pre-seed startups led the way in terms of deal count, raising approximately $5 million across 16 transactions.

With 48% of all investments, the business-to-business (B2B) model remains the most popular in terms of fundraising. In contrast, 12 B2C businesses received just $11.5 million of the total funding, with the remaining funds being split across startups in both industries.

A substantial amount of the investment—90% of the overall funding—went to male-led firms. firms co-founded by male and female entrepreneurs won $22.5 million, while firms lead by women received $583,000.

In November 2024, the MENA startup ecosystem had notable momentum, as seen by a 92% increase in funding over the previous month.
