Dubai Announces UAE National Day Holidays for Schools and Universities
All private schools, nurseries and universities in Dubai will be closed on December 2 and 3 in observance of Eid Al Etihad, or UAE National Day.
Regular classes will resume on Wednesday, December 4, the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority announced on Saturday.
Eid Al Etihad marks the unification of the seven emirates on December 2, 1971. The country turns 53 this year.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) had earlier announced that employees in the public and private sectors will be granted paid leave on Monday and Tuesday, December 2, 3. When combined with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, this translates into a four-day break.
The official Eid Al Etihad celebrations – usually attended by the country’s rulers and leaders – are taking place amidst the “stunning scenery” of Al Ain.
