UAE Visa Amnesty: 10,000+ Indians Regularize Status, Avoid Penalties

The Consulate General of India in Dubai announced on Wednesday, October 23 that more than 10,000 Indian expatriates have been assisted in regularizing their status as part of the UAE visa waiver initiative.

The initiative, which began on September 1 and runs through October 30, allows illegal residents and visitors without proper residency documents to adjust their visa status or leave without penalty.

In a statement, the embassy highlighted the issuance of more than 1,300 passports and 1,700 emergency certificates, and helped issue more than 1,500 exit permits.

This was done in collaboration with various Indian social organizations and volunteers.

“Other service seekers are facilitated to get fee/penalty waivers from UAE authorities,” it added.

The embassy appealed to Indian nationals living illegally in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to legalize their stay or take advantage of the visa amnesty program to leave the country.

It also stressed that Indians traveling to the UAE should follow proper procedures established by local authorities for entry, employment and residence.
