Immediate action taken against UAE national for violating travel restrictions amid escalating violence in Lebanon

UAE Attorney General Launches Investigation into Citizen Breaching Lebanon Travel Ban
ABU DHABI: UAE Attorney General Hamad Said Al-Shamsi has ordered an immediate investigation into a UAE national who violated the country’s travel ban to Lebanon, state news agency WAM reported on Friday.
The citizen has traveled with his family to Lebanon via another country, bypassing travel restrictions imposed from the United Arab Emirates.
WAM reported that he will be investigated for endangering the safety of his family amid rising violence in Lebanon.
“The Attorney General emphasized the importance of adhering to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ travel advisories, which are designed to protect UAE citizens from potential dangers in certain regions,” read the statement.
Al-Shamsi warned that violators will be fined and/or imprisoned in accordance with the UAE Penal Code.
Israel has intensified its bombardment of Lebanon since the war in Gaza began last October, a year after exchanging almost daily cross-border fire with the militant group Hezbollah.
The international community has called for a ceasefire to prevent a wider war in the region.
