Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Wins ‘Best Arab Library’ at Sharjah Libraries Literary Awards
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library won the “Best Arabic Library and Information Institution” award at the 24th Sharjah Libraries Literary Awards. The award is under the generous support of Sheikha Bodoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, under the theme “Transformation for a Green Knowledge Environment”. The award recognizes efforts to enhance the library’s role as a center of knowledge and culture, and the support it provides to the community through innovative programs and initiatives.
The library’s efforts to carry out the vision and direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, are demonstrated by their receipt of the “Best Arab Library and Information Institution” award.

The participation of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in this respect is based on several key factors and key projects that have contributed to cementing its status as one of the most important cultural monuments in the Arab world. The most notable of these projects is the development of the library’s knowledge collections, which include an information center and nine thematic libraries. These cater to audiences of all ages and provide knowledge resources in more than 70 global languages, enriching the readers’ experience and tailoring content to their interests.
The participation highlighted the library’s efforts in preserving human heritage through a library exhibition featuring rare collections of books, periodicals and atlases. Additionally, the Book Restoration Center plays an important role in the preservation of rare manuscripts, aiming to preserve this heritage for future generations.
As part of its efforts to stimulate interest in knowledge, the library offers various services and activities to support reading, research and creativity. It has also launched unique initiatives such as “A World Reads”, which aims to collaborate with local publishing houses, public institutions for special publications and authors to collect books and redistribute them to educational institutions, school libraries and government agencies. The participation of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library highlighted the unique initiative “A World in Your Language” launched a year ago. It uses artificial intelligence to create audiobooks and translate them into many global languages, providing access to knowledge to all segments of society.
