India and UAE Showcase Effective ‘Women-Led Development’ for Socio-Economic Growth: President Murmu
NEW DELHI: India and the United Arab Emirates have proved that “women-led development” can yield highly effective results for overall socio-economic development, President Draupadi Murmu said on Monday.
His assertion came during his meeting with Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who called on the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
He also praised the leadership of the UAE for ensuring the welfare of over 35 lakh Indian citizens in the West Asian nation, especially during the difficult times of the Covid pandemic.
Murmu is pleased to note the high participation rate and contribution of women in all aspects of Emirati society, according to a statement released by the Office of the President.
“Both our countries have demonstrated that women-led development can deliver highly effective results for overall socio-economic development,” she said.
During the Crown Prince’s visit, the President expressed satisfaction that “we have further expanded this partnership through several agreements in new areas of cooperation.”
Murmu said people-to-people ties are the bedrock of this relationship, with more than 35 lakh Indian citizens living in the UAE.

Murmu said he is delighted to welcome the third generation of leadership of the UAE to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, following a long tradition of high-level engagement that coincides with India’s comprehensive strategic partnership with the UAE.
“Both leaders agreed that India and the UAE have societies with integrated and multicultural heritage and that the path of peace, tolerance and harmony shown by Mahatma Gandhi and HH Sheikh Zayed is deeply embedded in our national character,” the statement added. .
