UAE-Japan Subcommittee Discusses Diplomacy, Economic Cooperation, and Regional Conflicts
Abu Dhabi [UAE], October 10: Senior officials from the ministries of foreign affairs of the United Arab Emirates and Japan met on Tuesday for the second session of the Subcommittee on Political Diplomacy and International Cooperation. 2022.
The virtual meeting was chaired by Assistant Minister of State for Political Affairs Lana Jackie Nusayebe and Assistant Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Director General of the Middle East and Africa Bureau Ando Doshihide.
Lana Nusayebe emphasized the strength of the bilateral relationship as both sides reviewed the significant progress made in recent years to further expand bilateral ties.
Both sides welcome the CEPA negotiations and look forward to reaching a successful, ambitious and well-balanced economic partnership agreement between Japan and the UAE, which will enhance bilateral economic relations, especially expanding cooperation in trade, investment and other areas.
During the meeting, political discussions focused on key regional issues, including the ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting international peace and security, and they underscored the importance of dialogue to end conflicts and promote stability, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter. They also talked about how to better protect civilians during hostilities and help individuals in need of humanitarian aid.
Both sides renewed the commitment of their national leaders to continue building bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the people of the UAE and Japan.
