UAE Condemns Attack on Saudi Hospital in Sudan, Calls for Immediate Ceasefire
The UAE condemned the attack on a Saudi hospital in El Fasher, western Sudan, which resulted in the killing and wounding of numerous innocent people, calling it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated the UAE’s position in calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, an immediate ceasefire, and the need to refrain from targeting civilians and civilian objects, as well as protecting medical facilities, institutions and healthcare workers from being targeted during the conflict.
Furthermore, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan stressed the importance of all parties upholding their legal and humanitarian obligations under the Jeddah Declaration and the procedures proposed by the Aligned Action Plan for Peace and Security in Sudan (ALPS).
He stressed the need for collective action in achieving peace and stability in Sudan, and for taking immediate measures to protect the people and avoid an escalation of the humanitarian crisis.
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan expressed his sympathies and compassion to the people of Sudan and their families, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery for all those affected.
