UAE Confirms Participation in 9th Asian Winter Games with Record Delegation

DUBAI — The UAE has confirmed its participation in the 9th Asian Winter Games, which will take place from February 7–14 in Harbin, China, according to the UAE National Olympic Committee.

The UAE will have its largest-ever delegation attending the Asian Winter Games for the third time. The three sports in which the nation’s athletes will compete are snowboarding, freestyle skiing, and alpine skiing.

In 2011, the UAE began their journey to the Asian Winter Games with their inaugural ice hockey tournament in Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan. The country kept playing in 2017, adding ice hockey and figure skating to their repertoire while competing in Sapporo, Japan.

This edition will feature seven UAE athletes—six men and one woman—to showcase the country’s growing dominance in winter sports across Asia.

The athletes’ preparation has been praised by the UAE National Olympic Committee, which has reaffirmed their dedication to promoting the UAE in international winter sports events.
