Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Welcomes UAE Delegation for Comprehensive Four-Day Security Inspection Amid Ongoing Collaborative Efforts

UAE Team Conducts Aviation Security Assessment at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport
RAWALPINDI: A team from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates began an aviation security assessment at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday. The assessment is a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to bolster aviation security and enhance collaboration between the aviation authorities of the UAE and Pakistan.
A spokesman for the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) announced that the two-member GCAA team, led by Senior Director of Aviation Affairs Abdullah Al Kaabi, was warmly welcomed by PCAA’s Director of Aviation, retired Air Commodore Shahid Qadir, upon their arrival in Karachi. This visit marks a significant step in the continuous partnership between the two countries to ensure stringent security measures at Pakistani airports.
Over the course of the next four days, the GCAA team will meticulously inspect the implementation of various security measures at Jinnah International Airport. Their focus will primarily be on the protocols and procedures in place for flights destined for the UAE. This thorough examination aims to ensure that the highest standards of security are maintained, providing a safe and secure environment for passengers traveling to and from the UAE.
The PCAA spokesman emphasized that this assessment is a part of the ongoing collaborative efforts between the GCAA and PCAA to enhance aviation security standards in Pakistan. Such cooperation is vital for both countries, as it not only strengthens security but also fosters a sense of mutual trust and reliability in aviation operations.
In a related development, it was noted that in the last week of June, a two-member team from the GCAA conducted a similar aviation security assessment at Islamabad International Airport. During their visit, the team inquired about the scanning machines used at the airport, evaluated their standards, and reviewed the procedures for issuing different types of passes. This previous assessment also included an inspection of the security measures implemented at the airport and the specific steps being taken to ensure the safety of flights to the UAE.
Mr. Abdullah Al Kaabi, who led the team, reiterated the UAE’s steadfast commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s aviation security system. He highlighted the importance of capacity and capability building in achieving this goal, ensuring that Pakistan’s airports are equipped with the necessary resources and expertise to maintain robust security standards.
In an unrelated but notable development, the PCAA has firmly dismissed baseless rumours circulating on social media that Jinnah International Airport has been secretly sold. In a statement, the PCAA spokesman clarified, “Recent rumours circulating online regarding the sale of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi are completely unfounded. The airport remains under the management of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.” This statement aims to quash any misinformation and reassure the public about the management and control of the airport.
The PCAA urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information and to avoid spreading unverified claims that can lead to unnecessary confusion and concern. The viral rumours had suggested a secret transaction involving the airport, which caused a flurry of mixed reactions on social media. The PCAA’s prompt response seeks to maintain public confidence and ensure that accurate information is disseminated.
The ongoing assessments and collaborative efforts between the GCAA and PCAA underscore the commitment of both countries to aviation security. By working together, they aim to establish and maintain the highest standards of safety and security at Pakistan’s airports, ultimately benefiting passengers and enhancing the overall travel experience.
