UAE Envoy Abdulnasser Alshaali Condoles the Demise of Ratan Tata
New Delhi [India], October 10: UAE Ambassador to India Abdulnasser Alshali has expressed grief over the demise of veteran businessman Ratan Tata. Condolences to his family, the Tata Group and all affected by his remarkable legacy.
Tata Sons chairman emeritus (86) passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night.
In a post shared on X, Alshali said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Ratan Tata, one of India’s most visionary leaders and philanthropists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, the Tata Group and all those who touched his life. A remarkable legacy.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday night that the funeral will be held with full state honours. According to an official statement from the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s office, the state government has declared a day of mourning for the demise of Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata’s cremated remains, draped in the national flag, have been placed at the National Performing Arts Center (NCPA) lawn for the public to pay their last respects. According to a Tata Trust statement, Ratan Tata’s body will be taken on its final journey at 4 pm today.
From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Ministers of all states have condoled the death of Ratan Tata. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the funeral of the senior industrialist on behalf of the Government of India.
Ratan Tata, born December 28, 1937 in Mumbai, is the chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of the largest private sector-promoted philanthropic trusts in India.
He was the chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. Later, he was appointed Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons. In 2008, he was honored with Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest civilian award.
The Maharashtra Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday passed a resolution urging the Center to award Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest award, to veteran businessman Ratan Tata for his achievements. The cabinet also passed a condolence plan on the demise of Ratan Tata.
