Dubai: Indian Consulate Refutes Advisory on UAE Firms

Emirates mission clarifies no warning was issued to Indian exporters, urges reliance on official sources

Dubai: Indian Consulate Dismisses False Advisory on UAE Firms

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai has denied advising Indian exporters about companies based in the United Arab Emirates. The correction comes after a bogus item on the Juris Hour website claimed that the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had warned companies about fraudulent activities in the United Arab Emirates.
The piece incorrectly ascribed a press release to the embassy.

The consulate confirmed that no such advisory was released and urged the publication to remove the inaccurate report. It also reminded the public that official statements are only available on its website.

Dubai Indian Consulate Dismisses False Advisory on UAE Firms

The article had incorrectly claimed that the MEA warned against “certain UAE-based companies, particularly in the foodstuff and general trading sectors,” citing complaints from Indian exporters. It also falsely stated that Indian missions could guide exporters regarding these companies.

After the consulate’s clarification, Juris Hour updated the article, acknowledging the claim was based on a “fake circular.”

Indian missions in the United Arab Emirates regularly issue warnings against scam calls and bogus messages that misuse their names. To avoid false information, it is recommended that both consumers and businesses confirm information through official means.

The CGI in Dubai had already warned Indian expatriates in September 2024 about fraudulent calls requesting money purporting to be from consular representatives.
