UAE to Reopen Lebanon Embassy After Three-Years more
High-Level Emirati Delegation Visits Beirut to Finalize Plans for Restoring Diplomatic Ties

UAE Set to Reopen Embassy in Lebanon After Three Years
A high-level Emirati delegation is in Lebanon to make arrangements to reopen the UAE embassy in Beirut after more than three years, state news agency WAM reported on Monday (January 13, 2025).
The delegation’s Sunday visit followed the agreement made by newly elected Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to take the required actions to reopen the embassy.
In October 2021, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia closed their embassy in Lebanon after the country’s then-information minister criticized the Saudi-led coalition’s involvement in Yemen.
Hezbollah’s political dominance in Lebanon was mentioned by the Saudi foreign minister at the time, but after over a year of fighting with Israel, most of the group’s top leaders have been killed and many of its strongholds have collapsed.
President Aoun claimed that countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were open to reestablishing diplomatic ties, according to Elias Bou Saab, deputy speaker of Lebanon’s parliament, in a televised address.
“There is hope for a new chapter in Lebanon as the UAE is set to reopen its embassy very soon,” Bou Saab stated.
